The homeland of the cherry is around the Caspian Sea and the North Anatolian mountains. Its Latin name (Prunus Cerasus) was derived from modern day Giresun's old name, Kerasus. It grows in temperate climates.

As with other citrus species, the real history of tangerine is unknown but it is believed to have originated from the northeast of India or southwest of China in the 12th century B.C. Its spread to the world started with the exportation of two different types of tangerine to England from Guangzhou (Canton) region in 1805.

The origin of the apricot comes from China and dates back to 3000 BC. It spread from China to India and Iran. Then it reached Europe. The major producing countries are Turkey, Iran, and Pakistan. European civilisation was introduced to apricots via the trade between the Persians and the Ancient Greeks .

The fig tree is believed  to have come from the civilizations of Southern Arabia and the ancient civilizations of the Eastern Mediterranean . Most likely, it was the Phoenicians who spread the fig tree culture in Cyprus, Sicily, Malta, Corsica, the Balearic Islands, the Iberian Peninsula, and France.

The strawberry fruit was mentioned in ancient Roman literature in reference to its medicinal use. The strawberry is a succulent and fragrant fruit of bright red colour, obtained from the plant with the same name and is considered as the " queen of the fruit".The first garden strawberry was grown in Brittany, France, during the late 18th century.
